Guidelines for Patients
Due to the current corona virus pandemic we have made some important changes to the way that we operate in clinic. We appreciate that some of these changes will impact on your assessment and treatment but we must consider the safety of our patients, our staff and the wider community.
All patients will be screened prior to attending Bell Lane Physiotherapy and Sports Therapy Clinic. This will involve an initial telephone assessment where you will be asked questions about your health and that of the members of your household.
Virtual consultations will be encouraged in place of face-to-face appointments. Our governing bodies are asking us to encourage our patients to have a virtual rather than physical consultation where possible. We appreciate that many of you are seeking “hands on” therapy and this is not a problem if justified. We have been advised that we must only provide face-to-face appointments for certain cases. You may be given a physical appointment if you are in pain and if your condition is not improving. During your telephone screening we will discuss the possibility of a virtual meeting and assess whether your needs can be met that way.
Appointments will be arranged in such a way as to facilitate social distancing and reduce traffic in clinic. Where possible, clinicians will contact patients via phone or text to let them know that it is safe to enter the building. Clinicians will communicate with each other as to when it is safe for you to enter the building No patient will be expected to use the waiting area.
All soft furnishings will be removed from clinical areas, including towels, pillows, throws and cushions.
Appropriate PPE will be worn by all staff. This includes disposable aprons, face mask, and gloves. We will continue to offer “hands on therapy” despite the wearing of gloves so do bear with us. We will respond appropriately as soon as the guidance changes.
All patients will be asked to wash their hands in the rest room area prior to the start of their appointment and after their appointment finishes. Clinicians will communicate with each other as to when it is safe for you to enter the rest room area.
All patients will be asked to wear a face mask. If you do not have your own, we will be able to supply one for you at a cost of £1.
All patients the “shielded” group will be offered a home visit in place of a clinic appointment if appropriate.
